Project 1: Visualising Journeys

Visualing Journeys : Initial moodboard exploring the variety of ways in which a journey can be visually documenting whilst compiling inspiration fro collections/ artworks which have a similar theme revolving journeys.

Visualising Journeys : A condensed sample of my photographic work and the conversion these to abstracted print samples.

Visualising Journeys : ~Further experimental work converting photographs to print through silkscreen printing, projections, collages, tape samples, chalk drawing and layering acetate.

Visualising Journeys : Utilising the patterns extracted through my abstraction of photographs to form a collection of ski wear.  The abstract shapes have all been derived through adding block colour in between the spaces between the people in my sketches.

Visualising Journeys : Developed collages, designs, wraps, exploring alternate paths incorporating the strong geometry aspects present in my initial photoshoots documenting the pathway / journey of the eyes through a photograph led by lines of force, utilising the geometric shapes to inspire shapes which I have applied to the body as wearable oversized pieces.

Visualising Journeys : Experimenting with converting the wraps into wearable forms.

Project 2 : The White Shirt Re-formed

The White Shirt Re-formed : Initial research page exploring geometry through paper manipulation and utilising these to alter the silhouette of the classic white shirt whilst also experimenting with the shirt alone and its potential beyond the conventional way of wearing.

The White Shirt Re-formed : Incorporating concrete photography samples into the geometric shapes inspired by the shapes created through paper folding.

The White Shirt Re-formed : Exploration of shape and utilising the geometric aspects of paper folding with the white shirt.

The White Shirt Re-formed : Exploration of spontaneous processes and materials inspired by concrete photography and the abstracts spontaneous aspects in which the process is of great importance depicting the final outcome.  Trying to capture this spontaneity through throwing and catching the duvet and then deriving garments from the shapes created.

White Shirt Re-formed : Incorporating colour derived from concrete photography samples.

Project 3 : Relations

Relations : Exploration of connectivity and juxtaposition, combining unusual items/beings together in unconventional manners. The photographic weave which is visually cut up the subject intertwining with objects is suggestive of the unconventional merge of two entities and the formation of a new relation through the unconventional interaction which is what I wanted to achieve through my garments.
Relations : Development on the theme of connectivity, exploring the formation of shapes and visually representing that connectivity through handshakes.

Relations : Utilising weaves to generate repeat patterns for a series of trouser designs.

 Earloop Project

Earloop : Utilising CAD programmes such as 2D design for CAM laser cutting and Fusion 360 for 3D printing, I designed and produced an accessory to the Apple Ear Pod to increase their stability for a user during more strenuous exercise.  Through thorough anthropometric studies, polymorph testing and digital laser scanning of the existing apple project, I was able to design an ergonomic design which offers a secure fit for the pods whilst offering flexibility and adjustment for every user to find the ideal fit.  This in-depth use of CAM and CAD facilities has prepared me for drawing on these skills for really experimental fashion garments.

One Day Negative Space Investigation

Exploration of negative space and adapting physic paces such a the interior of the a pringles can which formed inspiration for a couple of designs.

Unconventional Mark Making Projects

A sample of my work collected from a series of different one off workshops combined together with some current fashion inspiration to inspire designs in the style of Edda Gimnes.

                                                              Cardboard Catwalk Project

Exploration of the wearable abilities of cardboard whilst curating designs which pay homage to Georg Baselitz and Barbabra Hepworth, explorating themes of  destruction and isolation for Baselitz and Encompassment and visually conveying the feeling of being held ( by a landscape ) for Hepworth.

 Emu project

Emu Proejct : Physical production of a full sized emu and human counterpart with an emu head, to visually display that regardless of external factors, in this case represented through the suit, both emus are of equal quality / importance and to question the user if when drawn to the pieces the suited emu is given greater power in their mind and why that is the case, when internally they are both the same.  Questioning peoples views on equality and animal rights inspired by the largest show of animal rights activists at London Fashion week.
